Terrassa Town Hall (Ayuntamiento de Terrassa) is a Neo-Gothic building that looks out over the town and houses the town council. The building, situated on Calle Raval de Montserrat, was designed by Lluís Muncunill and built from 1900 to 1902.

This town hall was erected on the site of Can Galí and replaced the former Casa de la Vila. Although construction began in 1900, it was not until 1902 that the façade, the gallery and the interior décor were completed.

The building is mostly constructed out of sandstone and its façade has three large arches in front of the main door, eleven grand windows, a long balcony and a gable with the town’s coat of arms. Inside is an impressive golden stone staircase under a beautiful stained glass skylight. Then there are the coffered plasterwork ceilings, the work of Jeroni Ablabó, which adorn the plenary hall and the mayor’s hall.

In the plenary hall, there is a Gothic-style doorway and a gallery of illustrious locals with portraits of notable townsmen and women, an initiative that started in 1914 with a homage to Joaquim de Sagrera.

To get to the town hall, you can take either Calle de la Goleta or Calle de Sant Pere. Just a short walk away is the Mercat de la Independència, a market that is well known for selling local produce.

If you want to get around by car when visiting the town, you’ll find one of our Saba public car parks on Raval de Montserrat. It’s an ideal location, just a few metres away from Terrassa Town Hall and right at the heart of the town.
