Casa de Campo Park in Madrid

The Casa de Campo is a crucial green lung of the city. Not only does it offer a wide variety of recreational and instructive activities, but it also has considerable ecological and scenic value.

Its history is reflected in archaeological remains, historical and monumental constructions, all of which bear witness to its past as a Royal Site. You can also enjoy contemporary architecture from its time as a public park.

This historic park, mostly forested, has an undulating relief with small hills and valleys crossed by streams that converge in the Manzanares River, with the lake and the artificial ponds for the fauna standing out.

The viewpoint of the Príncipe Pío mountain and the Temple of Debod

This temple, built in the 2nd century BC by the Meroe king Adijalamani, is dedicated to Amun and Isis and is located on the lookout point of Prince Pius Mountain. It underwent extensions by the Ptolemies and the Roman emperors Augustus, Tiberius and possibly Hadrian.

In the 6th century, after the conversion of Nubia to Christianity, it was abandoned. In the 20th century, Egypt gave it to Madrid as a gift for the construction of a dam. Rebuilt stone by stone, it was opened to the public in 1972. Today, the temple offers a fascinating history that is presented through models, videos and audiovisual projections.

The Royal Palace of Madrid

The Royal Palace of Madrid, the largest in Western Europe and one of the largest in the world, covers more than 135,000 square metres with 3,418 rooms and is a historical witness to centuries of Spanish history. It stands out for being one of the few official residences of the heads of state that allows access to the public. Every year, nearly two million visitors explore its nooks and crannies, appreciate its works of art and marvel at its unique treasures.
